Category Basket Analysis

About this Dashboard

What Is It?

This dashboard is designed to allow you to delve deeply into a single category and gain a better understanding of the items within those baskets. You can use the category filter at the top to select a specific category and review the contents of baskets that contain products from that category.

Why Would You Want This?

After exploring the Basket Analysis Details dashboard, the next logical step is to review this Category Basket Analysis dashboard. This dashboard can assist you in creating in-store promotions based on products that sell well together, such as creating bundle deals.

Some of the data you can gather from this dashboard includes:

  • What is the average total basket size when a selected category is purchased?
  • Which categories are frequently purchased together with the selected category?

Category Sales Share of Selected Brands

The Category Sales Share of Selected Baskets represents sales as a percentage on the pie chart. It helps you understand the proportion of sales that a selected category contributes compared to other product categories when it is purchased.

For example, if you choose Edibles as the selected category, you can see that a significant portion of sales is attributed to Vapor Pens when they appear in a basket with an edible. Conversely, Capsules contribute very little to sales in this context.

On the right side, you can observe the sales share over time for different categories when Edibles is the selected category. This answers the question: "When your selected category is sold, what else is in that basket?"

Attachment Rate of Other Categories

While the above chart reflects the actual revenue associated with other bundled categories, the chart below focuses on the attachment rate and the percentage of times these categories appear in baskets.

Notably, Pre-rolls, typically lower-cost products, only account for 5% of additional sales in the 'Category Sales Share of Selected Baskets' visual. However, they appear in over 14% of all baskets that contain Edibles, as indicated by the yellow bar below. This comparison highlights the importance of considering pre-rolls as bundling items.

In the 'Attachment Rate of Other Categories' visual, we see that the attachment rate is nearly three times higher, meaning that people frequently purchase pre-rolls when they buy edibles.
